Obtaining the highest level plumber’s license (Class 2 Non-Restricted) in Georgia requires specific demands, education, and work experience

• Three (3) years of experience for a Journeyman Plumbers License (qualified to work on plumbing without supervision)
• AND Five (5) years for a Class 1 Restricted or Class 2 Unrestricted Master Plumbers License
• For Class 2 Non-restricted Master Plumbers License: must demonstrate five years of qualifying experience, with at least two years as a licensed journeyman plumber, and should have experience with commercial or industrial plumbing. (Note: Class 1 Restricted is limited to single-family or two-family buildings and commercial structures that do not exceed 10,000 square feet.)
• When applying for exam: Provide three notarized original reference forms from licensed plumbers (1 of which must me from a licensed Master Plumber).
• Submit and Pass background check.
• The licensing exam includes a Georgia Business and Law exam and a section on Administrative Requirements and Plumbing System Design.
• Current: Georgia plumbers must renew their license every two (2) years and complete at least four (4) hours per year of related instruction
